We are delighted to have won the “Best Large Town” award at the All Meath Pride of Place awards.
We faced very tough competition against excellent entries from Ashbourne, Laytown, Johnstown, Dunboyne and Trim.

2023 Meath (Kells District) Pride of Place Awards
Athboy did very well again in the 2023 awards held in the Headfort Hotel, Kells.
Those awarded to Athboy & area were:
Best large town – Athboy
Medium Housing Estate Runner-up – Meadowlands
Best Apartment Complex – Millview/Branmount
Best Youth Project – Athboy Scout Group
Best Shop Front – Doreen’s Home Bakery
Best Community Wellbeing – Fr Murphy’s Athletic Club

Athboy Tidy Towns had another fantastic year achieving 4 awards while increasing our points in all categories !

A talk on the History of Newman’s Mill by Bernard Walsh was given 16 August 2023.
We were again delighted to welcome our wonderful Google volunteers during July 2023. They weaved their magic by cleaning, painting & restoring countless items around the town, includng in the Heritage garden, Thornton’s garden, Barrack Lane, the Cowpark & many sites around the town. Some of the photos show the before & after. Google should be proud of these wonderfully pleasant, keen & hard working young people.
